Three brothers have brought “a little piece of Greece to Teesside” with their take on a traditional Greek Taverna. Acropolis Greek Taverna is one of the latest restaurants to join Middlesbrough’s fast-growing food scene, serving authentic Greek food.
Fotis Lalas and his brothers, Xristos and John, have taken over the old Istanbul Grill Turkish restaurant on Linthorpe Road – and say they want to provide a “truly Greek experience”.
Fotis, who is originally from Athens and made Teesside his home three years ago, said: “We wanted to bring something different to Middlesbrough , and have tried to keep the place as traditionally Greek as possible, with natural stone on the walls.
“We are a little piece of Greece, here on Teesside. We have been busy since opening and hope to be even busier throughout the summer.”
The restaurant will be serving up a range of traditional Greek dishes that have been passed down through the generations within the family, including chicken, pork and “lots of fish”.
Speciality dishes such as Gyros, Moussaka have been especially popular with diners, Fotis added.
